Prerequisite:
- Be a certified community health worker – peer recovery specialists
- Must be in substance abuse recovery (any substance) or have a family member in recovery from opioids
You will learn:
- 1.) Introduction to sensitivity to culture, anti-racism, and reproductive justice framework for BIPOC and other special populations.
- 2.) Building the Village of support and resources across all social determinants of health needed during pregnancy, birth, and first few years of life
- 3.) seeking support and treatment with mental health, opioid addiction, and other substance use while pregnant and parenting
- 4.) the birth process and having a doula, midwife, or support network and immediate support the first few months.
- 5.) working with pregnant and parenting with high risk of court involvement, child welfare and who are incarcerated.
- 6.) Scenarios and ongoing parenting support and child development in the first few years of life.
You will earn:
- Pregnant and Parenting with Black Indigenous People of Color and other Special Populations Certificate
As a SNAP E&T participant, you will get:
- Help paying for childcare while you are enrolled (if you qualify)
- All of your training certificates paid
- Interview clothing so you can look your best!
- A uniform if your new job requires it
- If you qualify, Riptiks and/or gas cards if you have transportation to make sure you can get to class
