Course Description:
Students will be trained to perform routine tasks related to Phlebotomy including, but not limited to, Infection Control, Blood Collection/Capillary Puncture Procedures, the use of specific Phlebotomy equipment, and Specimens Handling and Processing. Participants will attend classroom instruction as well as participate in clinical rotations consisting of 100 venipunctures (approximately 80 hours of clinical). Training also includes competences in specific skills proper placement of leads, maintenance of equipment and analyzing rhythm strips. Curriculum includes lecture and hands-on training in cardiac anatomy, the circulatory system, arrhythmias, pharmacology, HIPPA, electronic health records, biometrics, and lead placement.
