Course Description:

8-week job training program for formerly incarcerated men and women. Students will learn entry-level skills in tree service, composting and other plant-based industries. Classroom instruction, hands-on training and work-based learning with a focus on environmental justice and tree stewardship.

Total hours: 256

You can enroll if:

  • You are formerly incarcerated
  • You are over 18 years of age
  • Can work outdoors as part of a team
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
  • Stand for at least 8 hours
  • No substance or alcohol use
  • Currently unemployed and looking for full-time work

You will learn:

  • To build your self-confidence
  • Green job training
  • How to properly care for trees and other plants
  • Composting
  • How to look for work

You will earn:

  • OSHA 10
  • OSHA 40/HAZWOPER
  • CPR/AED/First Aid
  • Providence County Tree Keeper Certification

As a SNAP E&T participant, you will get:

  • Ongoing help from a case manager
  • Career counseling
  • Riptiks and/or gas cards if you don’t have transportation to make sure you can get to class
  • Test/Registration/Certification fees paid for
  • Training Materials
  • Uniforms
